Working hard, setting a goal. Crossing that line of success is what I'm about.

Rico is a fantastic leader because he makes mature decisions and he always uses respectful language to people. He makes sure everyone is included in games He also helps people if they get stuck on something they're not sure of. Rico self-managed on the polyfest night, by making sure he was there on time and looking after costumes. He took a risk and performed with pride.

A goal Rico achieved this year is being able to show leadership to younger students, and how he can be trustworthy. Another goal Rico achieved was being able to self-manage out of school and in school

Rico’s next steps are to gain more confidence so he is not shy in sharing his learning!, He is also working really hard to sit with the right people when he is working, and making sure he finishes his work on time.

Athletics learning story 2017

Athletics this year, Everyone use to be scared of athletics but this year people came ready like real athletes

I came first in four events the events I was good at was, High jump, Long distance, sprints, and vortex.

In high jump, I managed to make it over the cluster standard by following Mrs.Whiting’s advice which was lift your arms up high when you’re gonna jump and to lift your bottom up so it doesn’t touch the pole. I also told myself I could do it and I visualized myself jumping over the pole.

In long distance, I was good at keeping my pace and taking long steps. Tawhiri gave me some helpful advice and told me to go to the first line to my right so I would have less time to go around corners. I also stayed in front of people so they couldn’t go past me and if they tried to go around I moved with them.

 

In sprints, I got better at keeping my head up. I also put people off by waving to them. It was really challenging because I went up against the fastest people in the school!, But I just kept my head up and kept sprinting.

I was good at vortex by throwing a bit high but not to low. Vortex was kinda hard because there were heaps of strong people that could throw far and the cluster standard was kind of far. So I took a big step and threw it hard and high, by doing that I made it to the cluster standard

My next steps are to not be scared of my events and just do it and to keep listening out for helpful advice

Poly fest learning story 2017 (Edit)

Hi there i'm going to tell you about my experience in poly fest!, You don't know what poly fest is?. Well it's about pacific cultures sharing there culture, through dancing and singing. Now I will tell you what I was good at and a little on what happen on the night.


The first thing I was good at as was managing my self. I managed myself by choosing appropriate behaviours, attending all practices, And looking after costumes and gear. I also made sure I was sitting next to people that won't distract me and people that are really committed to the group. These people were keelan and diantey they also inspired me to give it my hardest!.


I was also good at relating to others by supporting others to dance, and by putting my line in there correct positions. I was really good at relating to others by having fun with the people in my group and practising really cool dances for the end of our performance

The key competencies I used was Managing self, Relating to others, and participating and contributing

These key competencies got me what I wanted and needed by: Making sure I was Committed to the group. I also listened and watched very carefully to the actions and the words I also made sure my line was in there correct positions unlike some other kids were sitting in the wrong places!.


On the night of polyfest all of the groups performed there hearts off!, and smiled. I reckon that was the most funnest polyfest night of my life everyone was enjoying there dances most people in the groups turned up, and the audience loved the performances!.

Hey!, My name is Rico I am twelve years old and I am going to tell you about myself, Well just some stuff!. As you might know, I got to Corinna! I really enjoy learning in this learning space, Because my friends will always help me when I'm stuck on something, I can participate and contribute in mostly everything!, Well except for maths usually I just sit there and watch them do the work :) Or sometimes I actually like maths. My favourite subject in school is reading I like reading it’s so fun! You can learn different things in books!, Like discover new words!. You can also experience new adventures which are really fun and exciting!.

My hobbies

What I really enjoy out of school time is mostly gaming and soccer these two activities really entertain me. The games I play are Tanki online and that’s it, I don’t like call of duty! As some people really like it. Little kids don’t play it! It’s really boring and violent I've played it and experienced some supernatural things that you wouldn’t want to know. Ok, that’s enough about games let’s move onto soccer!. Soccer is a very fun sport if you love running!, The reason why I like soccer is that I want to be like Antoine griezmann he’s one of the best players in the world!. And what I like about soccer is its so fun. And to be honest i really suck at the game :) .

Rico's Reading learning story 2017

In Reading.

My book is called: The Hobbit

It is a: Fiction book, Based on an actual movie.

It's purpose is to:Intrest and hook the reader in, And maybe even tell the reader a little bit about the movie.

I located information: So i found out that The house bilbo lives in actually has nothing in it. Which is really weird because in the movie there are tables seats and even cupboards.

I inferred and idea:So i worked out that

Bilbo's feet actual grows shoe soles and he has hair around his feet to keep him warm.

I evaluated:So i think that ballin and dwallin want to take bilbo hostage, Because they know hes special.


I've been wondering about this book.

Why doesn't bilbo's house have all the features? Like it does in the movie?. Plus why were dwillan and billan Inside bilbo's house with a table?. Which is weird because it said there is nothing in the house. Text from the book "There is nothing in bilbo's house No tables No chairs No nothing!.

Rico's Math's learning story.

So our problem was about Philomena and June. This problem was called Hop Skip And Jump.

So Philomena Hopped 1.01m Skipped .97m and Jumped 1.57. M (Metres)

June hopped 0.89m skipped 1.11m And jumped 1.50m

Firstly I added all the numbers together because there is no other way. If you multiplied what will you multiply? If you divided? What will you divide and why?.

This is what I did

In that first problem I pretty much used the same strategy, Same as the second problem.

Art learning story

Success criteria:What is cubism? how do we create cubism art?

In room tuakana art we had a look at a specific art work called cubism.I guess you're wondering what cubism is?, Well cubism is a natural theme in art.Cubism is a type of artwork that is muddled up into pieces, But if look closer you can actually see that it's muddled up into an object such as Humans  animals anything really!.So what we had to do was try to draw a piece of cubism art!, But instead of drawing your own we had to copy one!.Which was really hard.The things i couldn't focus on drawing was the muddled up line that when down the head,Which was really hard because it was crooked then straight! which had me confused for a bit.

So what i drawed was a person that was muddled up obviously, Now this piece of artwork was very difficult to draw!.They had different angle's deep turns very hard, I was mucking up until Christian said "Rico it doesn't have to look the same do it in our own style".Then that's when my brain turned on.The thing that i was good at was lightly shading,I shaded my drawing so light that i couldn't see it myself.The next thing i was good at was having a go at drawing it,S.C(success criteria) Taking a risk.

My next steps are to challenge myself to harder art drawing,"Normaly i go for the easier drawing's"

My second next steps are to use the success criteria to compare it and see if i used some of the criteria in my drawing

P.E learning story

In our class P.E.We had to show how we can communicate!and help our team through different types of games such as,Soccer,long ball,dodgeball.These games involved teamwork and strategies.In each game we’d stop,to share how we can improve.

In dodgeball! I was good at encouraging my team to win(such as “go christian duck! duck!)eventually i did nothing because i knew i wasn’t good at this sport until christian encouraged me to get involved these words inspired me to actually try and get that ball!.The thing i was good at Was getting people out such as keelan!to get people out i had to throw the ball at their legs or below their waist.I got keelan out by watching how he was moving and where he would hide.The reason i never got out is i was hiding away from where people couldn’t see me or get me!..The things i need to work on is try and get the ball more!.

So we have been playing long ball!.And in this activity you have to hit the ball and run down to one end and back!.So through this game i encouraged my team to run!.and hit somewhere that no one is standing in!.This game helped us to communicate and think of different strategies,that could help us win or gain more points.

In long ball we all communicated to get people out! To get these people out we all yelled for the ball! So we could get that person out..my next steps in long ball is to try hit more further and know when to run!.

Rico's creekfest story

WOW!,This atmosphere is amazing!(Obviously BECAUSE IT’S CREEKFEST Oh yeah!).

Oh man I can see the sun shine across the solid green grass, Oh man i can feel the temperature getting higher! ,It’s so blimmin hot i think might pass out soon Lol. Wait!, What is this ridiculous smell? Omg it’s ice cream.. Come here ice cream wait No! No! Why is this happening? my body is failing me Please no! Don’t do this.Dang it my body can’t handle the heat!,As i fall over onto this smoothly soft grass.I see other people looking at me, Bro you ok?(“hmm what does it look like to you?", You look ok to me!.Ok move on!.I think of how yummy that ice cream looks i think of how yummy those donuts smell!,i wonder if one of those beautiful dresses will fit me? lol..I think of how good that ice cream will cool me down!?,Mum! Yes Rico? A little help please! What do you mean? Oh dear! Get up you’re not a baby anymore!.But mum! I’m only five! and you can get up yourself can’t you? Well not when it’s hot like this i can’t,oh well find a way to get back up yourself!.(me) (breathing in depression)but i need that ice cream!!!.Ok get it together let’s find a way to get up!.Here we go(i guess you’ll be thinking he’ll probably use his big muscles).Or probably do a super jump.

wow! you’re thinking of the wrong boy lol.This is how i get up!.Yo! Kaelah help me up and i’ll give you a dollar(lol i didn’t have a dollar then! Nor did i have any manners to say please!),( As kaelah is standing there like she didn’t know me,I’m sure she’ll help me!) No!( as i think to myself wait what?) Come on Rico get up you’re wasting time! Plus You’re not a baby you know.(well that’s what she had to say i thought she would help me?)(As i carry on annoying her) as i whisper to myself just like mum!.No we have heaps of time!.Rico we have to go to Beyonce’s softball game!.Oh what time is that? eleven O’clock what’s the time now ten O’clock!.Ok then help me up.No! Omg Rico just get up!.Ok first get me a ice cream!,Ok says mum as she walks over to the ice cream store!,I get a glance of a vanilla ice cream!.Oh yeah now that’s what i call a ice cream!ok give it now please(i only said please because it’s ice cream everyone likes ice cream!).here you go now get up!.As i lick my way from top to bottom i get so much adrenaline pumping through me.So i tell kaelah wanna help me up? nah jokes! i punched myself up!,As if i were hulk smash!.As i get up! i Run over to the donut shop! can i buy four packets of donuts! now this is what i call paradise!As i munch away those yum as donuts!(well not all of them),All i hear is(“Rico it’s time to go!”)dang it.I did waste time!,But unless i had a good time with that ice cream!Well if you’d excuse me i have a private date with these donuts!....Well as i munch my way to happiness i feel a warm breeze sooth past me!,Not again!
